UPDATE: No More Ads on My Quirky Friend

I bit the proverbial bullet and pulled the plug on having ads on this site. I am approaching three years in which this blog has been active. Overall, I’ve had ads for about thirty-three out of those thirty-six months. Do you want to know how much cold hard cash I’ve earned in that time?

Well, Don’t hold your breath. Lol! It isn’t much. Like, it’s really not. It’s actually non-existent. Seriously. And I’m not even kidding.

You see I used Google Adsense. With them you must reach a minimum earnings threshold before they will send you your earnings. The lowest payout level, direct deposit, is certainly enticing with a payout threshold of $10.

Well, sadly, in thirty-three months I never reached that measly minimum. Sigh. Throughout that entire period I earned a whopping $5.85 with ads on my blog. Seriously. That won’t even get me a decent fast food meal. Smh…

Along the way I’ve ignored posts discouraging placing ads on blog sites. Here’s a post which gives thirteen reasons not to do ads. But, I was hopeful. Obviously. Lol

So, I wised up. And I cut that proverbial cord. The ads are gone. Hopefully, that gives you, my beloved readers a more enjoyable experience while you’re on my site.

Having said that, if you have a website and gain a ton of traffic, then placing ads strategically may be beneficial. It’s one of those things that you have to decide what is right for you and your site. Each person and purpose is different. So, live and learn!

On that note, this has been my learning experience. And an effort I will forego for the time being. Enjoy!
